Standing over the shores of Lake Naivasha in Kenya at 2886 metres this massive dormant volcano is an arresting sight for visitors to the Lake Naivasha basin. Created amongst the massive eruptions which formed the Great Rift Valley, its sides are now beautifuly lined with spectacular fissures and laval canyons with impenetrable forest around the area of the crater giving it a lush green aspect. The Mount Longonot National Park surrounds the volcano.
